Leastone Racing Team announced today that they will be joined by 2017 Irish Formula Vee champion, Colm Blackburn for an assault on the 2020 UK Monoposto Championship. Blackburn returns to full competition following select Formula Ford outings in 2019.

The Dubliner will hope to mount a championship challenge for MonoMoto 1000 honours, and continue Leastones strong performance in recent years, which has seen the Leastone 1000 take either the title or runner up spot since 2017.

Colm has been a long-standing member of the Leastone family, having star...

I was bitten by the motorsport bug relatively late by modern day standards, when I started out karting at 11. I competed in a handful of races with my younger brother before taking a break due to escalating costs. Having been given a taste, I did not want to give up and together with my family, we began to look at a more cost-effective way of going about things. Formula Vee popped up on our radar and we contacted Paul Heavey of Leastone Racing who obliged us with a couple of test drives towards the end of 2017.

Once I turned 16, I applied for...

The Monoposto calendar is still being finalized but it is expected to cover 14 rounds through a mix of double and triple headers (2019's calendar took place over 6 weekends) and should include tracks such as Silverstone, Donington Park, Brands...

Leastone boss Paul Heavey made a successful return to the Leastone 1000 cockpit last weekend, when he and Brendan O’Brien visited Anglesey for rounds 5 and 6 of the Monoposto Tiedeman Trophy. O’Brien made his second appearance of the year in his Global Services Centres  Leastone, while Heavey took over Max Harts usual mount.

With Saturday testing helping both drivers get back up to speed following a long lay off, they were greeted with a damp coastal circuit come Sunday. Heavey opted to slicks, with a drying line appearing, however a light but p...

Max Hart rounded out his successful 2019 with a brace of podiums at rounds 3 and 4 of Monoposto's Tiedeman Trophy at a sodden Pembrey last weekend. Hart was joined by David Heavey, who returned to the cockpit for the first time in 2 years, securing a pair of top 6 finishes overall.

Qualifying saw the driest conditions of the weekend, even though the track remained slightly greasy following solid rain throughout Friday. Max took advantage of the tricky conditions by jumping quickly out of the box and securing his time early on, sealing an impress...

The final two rounds of Monoposto 1000 took place Saturday and Sunday in Brands Hatch on the mighty Grand Prix Circuit. We tested on Friday, but it was only the Indy track for testing so it wasn’t a huge amount of help, so I just got myself into the right mindset for the weekend ahead and a reminder of my first ever race in both the car and the track!

Qualifying was going to be a massive learning curve, it is a very technical track, with some very brave and impressive turns. I qualified P5, getting out early to get some clear...

We woke to a very damp Silverstone Circuit on Friday morning for testing. I had a new engine to run in so getting the feel of the track, along with running in the engine meant that the testing sessions 1 - 3 were very slow, but it was bucketing down so I didn't mind too much.

The final session, which I was looking forward to getting out on the track and learn the track at a proper pace, getting a feel for it but the track was deemed unsafe for testing and was red flagged!

So, qualifying was to be my learning curve, not for the first time...

Brilliant weekend of racing and a lot of hard work in between!

Testing on Friday was a great way to get grips with the track, which proved a challenging track to learn with amazingly long straights and a lot of tight and tricky corners. The first two sessions helped me get to know the track, and sessions three and four were planned for pushing myself and my Leastone 1000.

Unfortunately, during the 3rd session I pushed a little too far leaving a lot of hard work for my team on Friday night to be 100% for qualifying on Saturday morning, at thi...

Castle Combe Circuit - we will definitely remember this track for all time to come...the place where I got my 1st win!

Getting to know the track in testing on Thursday was unusual, but there definitely was lots to learn.  The distance on the track was 3km, fast paced, with some great chicanes. Throughout the 4 testing sessions we steadily progressed quicker and quicker as I gained confidence. Having 4x15 minute testing sessions was definitely better than the 2 half hour session format we usually see, as I got an opportunity to get out and debri...
