The final two rounds of Monoposto 1000 took place Saturday and Sunday in Brands Hatch on the mighty Grand Prix Circuit. We tested on Friday, but it was only the Indy track for testing so it wasn’t a huge amount of help, so I just got myself into the right mindset for the weekend ahead and a reminder of my first ever race in both the car and the track!

Qualifying was going to be a massive learning curve, it is a very technical track, with some very brave and impressive turns. I qualified P5, getting out early to get some clear...

Winning the Finol Star of Tomorrow was some achievement, and the feeling was amazing that the year of driving paid off. However, Brands Hatch...well that was absolutely amazing from start to finish.

I allowed myself a silly moment of excitement when team Leastone arrived in Brands Hatch on Thursday evening and we were directed to a designated garage for ME!!

Testing on Friday didn't really happen for me, heavy rain meant that the track was super hard to get to grips with. In addition, I had an engine issue which had me on the side lines for the m...

Mark Reade got his championship challenge back on track with a solid brace of results at Brands Hatch last weekend. Morgan McCourt also came away with a solid haul of points, recovering from a qualifying hiccup to grab a pair of top 10 finishes around the 2.43 mile Kent circuit. Mark put his no. 45 Leastone on the second row for the first of Saturday’s races but Morgan’s session did not go as smoothly, as a throttle issue sidelined him in the early phase of qualifying. He would start Race 1 from the last row, in 28th position.

After his race winning debut at Cadwell Park last month, Mark Reade and the Leastone team suffered a number of frustrations over the Monoposto championship rounds on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit last weekend, May 20/21st. Reade was joined for the weekend by Morgan McCourt, who was making his first appearance in the 1000 for 2017 and he enjoyed a very different weekend to his teammate, leaning on his previous experience at the famous Kent circuit.

Both Mark and Morgan would suffer very different fortunes throughout the weekend an...

Finol Star of Tomorrow 2016

What a year it has been plenty of highs along with plenty of lows but the highs way out bid the lows – the joys of my first year competing in Formula Vee, and I have to say I have well and truly been bitten by the racing bug. My biggest high of this year racing without doubt was winning the Finol Star of Tomorrow championship and getting the opportunity to race the Leastone 1000 in the British Monoposto Championship at Brands Hatch. And for those of you that don’t know the 1000 was built by Paul Heavey of Leastone Rac...

The Leastone team rounded out their 2016 season with a mixed bag of results at Brands Hatch last weekend. It was the season closing non-championship event for the Monoposto class and the team fielded two of the Leastone 1000’s. Team regular Mark Reade was joined by Finol Star of Tomorrow winner Joe Power, who had a brief shakedown in the 1000 at Mondello two weeks previous. Both drivers had a productive days testing on the Friday, with Joe instantly impressing with his consistent and smooth driving.

The drivers had the luxury of having Saturday...

As we arrive at one of the highlights of the Formula Vee calendar, the Formula Vee Festival, Leastone Racing Cars and Finol Oils are delighted to launch the 2017 Finol Star of Tommorrow. 2017 will be the 4th year of the Finol/Leastone partnership and the 5th year overall for initiative, which offers newcomers to Formula Vee the opportunity of a race weekend in the Leastone 1000, the 160 BHP slicks and wings shod Leastone single seater. The first two years of the prize saw rookie champions Colm Blackburn and Sean Newsome enjoy an all expenses pa...

Brands Hatch 22/23 November 2014

The idea of racing in November never appealed to me, so travelling all the way to Brands Hatch was not on my agenda until Brendan O'Brien and Stephen Morrin decided to run in the Formula Vee Festival. As MSV were running a non-championship Monoposto race, I decided to throw the 1000 in the trailer and have a little race (or 3) myself.

Robbie Allen had told me that he was thinking of doing the UK Vee Festival but when I told him about the Mono race he decided to bring his Sheane Rover. Upholding tradition, we h...
