We departed from Leastone HQ on Wednesday evening and headed for Dublin port for my first journey to Donington Park. We arrived at the track in the early hours of Thursday morning, managed to catch a few hours’ sleep before setting up and preparing for the afternoon test sessions.
Getting to know the track was going to be the first hurdle to overcome, and getting used to such a high powered car was next! Testing went well, with two half hour sessions just enough to get to grips with all I had to learn, both on the track and in the car for now.
Mark Reade and the Leastone team kicked their title defence off at Donington Park last weekend with a win and runner up result tempered by a retirement in Race 1 due to a mechanical issue. Reade was joined by his first full time team mate in the form of Morgan McCourt, contesting the full Monoposto championship following sporadic outings over the past few years. McCourt opened his campaign with a trio of top 10 results, including a 6th place in the weekend’s final race, in tough conditions.

With 2 wins over the course of a 3 race weekend, Mark Reade and the Leastone Racing Team secured the 2017 Monoposto MonoMoto 1000 crown at Donington Park last weekend. A DNF in the second of the weekend’s races meant that things were not as easy as they maybe should have been, but a storming drive from deep in the pack saw Reade win the final round and with it, the championship title. Adding to the excitement, Brendan O’Brien had joined the team for the final rounds, grabbing his first podium over the course of the weekend.
