I was bitten by the motorsport bug relatively late by modern day standards, when I started out karting at 11. I competed in a handful of races with my younger brother before taking a break due to escalating costs. Having been given a taste, I did not want to give up and together with my family, we began to look at a more cost-effective way of going about things. Formula Vee popped up on our radar and we contacted Paul Heavey of Leastone Racing who obliged us with a couple of test drives towards the end of 2017.

Once I turned 16, I applied for...

UK Monoposto

Following an impressive Monoposto debut, as part of the Finol Star of Tomorrow championship towards the end of 2018, young hotshoe Max Hart committed himself to the 2019 championship season. He continued his debut form through the opening rounds of the championship, where the 17-year old took a brace of podiums at Donington Park.

Hart carried his impressive form and continued to cause the series regulars headaches in the early phase of the season, securing another two podiums by the time the series marked the mid-way point at Castle...

Paul Heavey and the Leastone team returned to their home track last weekend, following their recent top 5 at the Anglesey Circuit in Wales last month. With limited testing, Heavey was not 100% happy with his JH004 and this carried into qualifying where he logged a time good enough for the 3rd row.

The initial foray was cut short after just one lap, when an incident brought out the red flags. When the race got underway proper, Heavey made a solid start to hold position for the opening few laps. During the opening phase, he was in hot pursuit of 5...

The Formula Vee circus moved across the water for Rounds 5 and 6 of their 11 round championship, visiting the popular Anglesey circuit in Wales. Fresh off the back of his Bishopscourt success, Paul Heavey was looking to maintain form, albeit only for 1 of the weekends 2 races. Having spent Saturday at Oulton Park, overseeing a strong run by team hotshoe Max Hart in the Monoposto Championship, Heavey negotiated with organisers to start the second race of the weekend from the back of the grid, following the standard 3 lap familiarization run that...

Paul Heavey and the Leastone team made a return to victory lane at Bishopscourt last weekend, marking his first win in over 15 years. With it being his first visit to the former air force base, Heavey needed to maximise his track time during Saturday’s untimed practice session. Still not 100% comfortable by the time qualifying rolled around, Heavey placed his Total JH004 on the outside of the second row for Race 1.

A solid start was helped by the absence of one of the front row starters but by lap 3, Heavey had elevated himself to 2nd before man...

Leastone boss Paul Heavey made a successful return to the cockpit last weekend, as he took a brace of podiums during the opening weekend of the 2019 Irish Formula Vee championship at Kirkistown. Despite being away from full time competition for over 10 years, Heavey raced well among Formula Vee regulars, although it was not without its spills on the way.

Heavey took a break from normal protocol by testing on Thursday, ensuring that he had the option of regular Friday testing should any issues with his freshly rebuilt JH004 restrict his track tim...

Leastone Racing are happy to announce that Finol Oils Ltd. have extended their partnership with the team for 2019.

Based out of Kimmage, Dublin, Finol is one of the main distributors for Total and Elf lubricants throughout the island of Ireland. Their partnership with Leastone dates back to 1988, when they backed Leastone founder Paul Heavey in his privateer Sheane. Finol initially sponsored the Kildare native through their Fina brand, which lent itself to a distinctive bright blue livery for many years.

Finol continued their support of Heavey th...

2018 Finol Star of Tomorrow Champion Max Hart has committed to the 2019 UK Monoposto Championship with the Leastone Racing Team. The 17-year-old Baltinglass native will hope to challenge for MonoMoto 1000 championship honours across the 14 round calendar, which will be held over 6 weekends.

Hart sealed the 2018 Finol Star of Tomorrow championship with 10 class podiums, including 7 class wins before taking the reins of the Leastone 1000 in Brands Hatch for 2 rounds of the Monoposto Tiedeman Trophy in October, finishing 4th and 2nd over the course...

We kicked the weekend off with testing on Friday and it was amazing to say the least. I got my first laps in the Leastone 1000 and it was like a dream come true. It was quite a jump up from the Vee!  After turning those few laps, I cannot wait for Brands Hatch!

With the pressure off for the championship, I could relax a bit more and the usual social get together on Friday night was one to remember, setting up the race for Saturday.

Qualifying was crazy! I had a wild spin coming out of the chicane but I somehow managed to end up pointing in the ri...

Firstly, a massive thanks to everyone on the team for the past weekend.  To say I am relieved, elated and beyond excited after securing the Championship this weekend is mild! Even if the weekend didn’t go exactly to plan!

Testing on Friday was challenging, I had to bring myself back up to speed with the technical layout but racing on the international circuit again was going to be exciting. I know it is a huge effort to cover the many, many turns on Mondello’s longest variation so a big shout out to all the marshalls for making it possible!
