Paul Heavey and the Leastone team returned to their home track last weekend, following their recent top 5 at the Anglesey Circuit in Wales last month. With limited testing, Heavey was not 100% happy with his JH004 and this carried into qualifying where he logged a time good enough for the 3rd row.

The initial foray was cut short after just one lap, when an incident brought out the red flags. When the race got underway proper, Heavey made a solid start to hold position for the opening few laps. During the opening phase, he was in hot pursuit of 5...

Paul Heavey and the Leastone team made a return to victory lane at Bishopscourt last weekend, marking his first win in over 15 years. With it being his first visit to the former air force base, Heavey needed to maximise his track time during Saturday’s untimed practice session. Still not 100% comfortable by the time qualifying rolled around, Heavey placed his Total JH004 on the outside of the second row for Race 1.

A solid start was helped by the absence of one of the front row starters but by lap 3, Heavey had elevated himself to 2nd before man...

Leastone boss Paul Heavey made a successful return to the cockpit last weekend, as he took a brace of podiums during the opening weekend of the 2019 Irish Formula Vee championship at Kirkistown. Despite being away from full time competition for over 10 years, Heavey raced well among Formula Vee regulars, although it was not without its spills on the way.

Heavey took a break from normal protocol by testing on Thursday, ensuring that he had the option of regular Friday testing should any issues with his freshly rebuilt JH004 restrict his track tim...

We kicked the weekend off with testing on Friday and it was amazing to say the least. I got my first laps in the Leastone 1000 and it was like a dream come true. It was quite a jump up from the Vee!  After turning those few laps, I cannot wait for Brands Hatch!

With the pressure off for the championship, I could relax a bit more and the usual social get together on Friday night was one to remember, setting up the race for Saturday.

Qualifying was crazy! I had a wild spin coming out of the chicane but I somehow managed to end up pointing in the ri...

Testing on Friday was challenging to say the least, with the amount of water that decided to fall from the sky! The track was flooded, pools of water everywhere....I was thinking that speedos might be more appropriate than my fireproofs! It was good to get some wet weather practice though and it added to the fun of driving, as the car was dancing all over the track. We managed to give it our best shot though and managed to learn a few things, despite the conditions. Getting back to brass tacks after the summer break was both enduring and satisf...

Anti-clockwise at Mondello, was certainly a challenge and a half...not just a challenge learning the circuit but a challenging weekend overall!

Testing Friday morning was so weird going ‘the wrong way’, but in fairness it was like a brand new track and enjoyable to try get to grips with. So Friday really was all about getting to know the track, the best braking points

and the best spots to gain position. And most importantly what to try and avoid!!

On Saturday morning, Vee’s were first to compete on the anti-clockwise track in years...

Bishopscourt was a new track to me and the boys had mentioned how fast it was, so to say I was worried was a bit of an understatement.

We arrived on Friday evening, after hot-tailing it from school and we got everything set up for what was promising to be a great weekend of racing ahead of us. The atmosphere in the paddock was electric!

Taking in the track on the walkabout, it looked fantastic, my nerves were then joined by anticipation!

With no testing per se, a short free practice session on Saturday morning was the first opportunity I had...

We travelled to Mondello for Round 2 of the Finol Star of Tomorrow Championship and I was looking forward to hitting what is kind of my home track at this stage!

A great weekend racing (again), and why shouldn’t it have been anything other than great.  After a productive days testing, the honorable Sir Paul Heavey had my machine sweetly by the end of Friday and I was gunning for race day.

And what a day it turned out to be. The competition was fierce (which I am quickly realising the normal case to be in Formula Vee!) and racing was a...

Finol Star of Tomorrow 2016

What a year it has been plenty of highs along with plenty of lows but the highs way out bid the lows – the joys of my first year competing in Formula Vee, and I have to say I have well and truly been bitten by the racing bug. My biggest high of this year racing without doubt was winning the Finol Star of Tomorrow championship and getting the opportunity to race the Leastone 1000 in the British Monoposto Championship at Brands Hatch. And for those of you that don’t know the 1000 was built by Paul Heavey of Leastone Rac...

The Leastone team returned to Mondello Park last week when the Irish Formula Vee championship held a double header on the International circuit, marking the final visit to the Kildare circuit for 2016. Mark Reade made the transition from Formula Vee to the BOSS class for the weekend, which was to battle for the coveted Leinster Trophy on Sunday. Formula Vee regular Kevin Cahill was joined by teenager Jordan Daly, who was making his single seater debut following a number of years karting and a recent successful test.

Kevin had a solid qualifying,...
