It was great to finally be back at the home track! Testing on Friday went very well. I needed to try get as many laps in as possible and with every lap I happy to be improving speed and consistency.  I was really looking forward to racing on Saturday with the BOSS Ireland class, which had some impressive machines on show.

Qualifying went well on Saturday morning. I managed to get a P8 out of the 18 on the grid, I was happy with that considering the cars we were up against....

Race 1 on Saturday afternoon I was lined u...

Paul Heavey and the Leastone team returned to their home track last weekend, following their recent top 5 at the Anglesey Circuit in Wales last month. With limited testing, Heavey was not 100% happy with his JH004 and this carried into qualifying where he logged a time good enough for the 3rd row.

The initial foray was cut short after just one lap, when an incident brought out the red flags. When the race got underway proper, Heavey made a solid start to hold position for the opening few laps. During the opening phase, he was in hot pursuit of 5...

Firstly, a massive thanks to everyone on the team for the past weekend.  To say I am relieved, elated and beyond excited after securing the Championship this weekend is mild! Even if the weekend didn’t go exactly to plan!

Testing on Friday was challenging, I had to bring myself back up to speed with the technical layout but racing on the international circuit again was going to be exciting. I know it is a huge effort to cover the many, many turns on Mondello’s longest variation so a big shout out to all the marshalls for making it possible!

Reigning UK Monoposto champion Mark Reade gave the Leastone 1000 its competitive debut on Irish soil last weekend at Mondello Park’s Leinster Trophy event, racing in the Formula Libre class. The local man recorded an impressive pair of top 5 finishes, battling hard against a great turn out of Formula 3, Formula Renault and F3000 machines.

Testing was limited to a handful of sessions on Friday which gave him some feel for the 1000 around the technical 3.6km Donore circuit, before heading into Saturday morning’s qualifying session. Struggling with...

I had heard about the Formula Vee Festival being a unique weekend but I wasn't prepared for how great a weekend it was to be! It was great walking through a jammed paddock on Friday, as it had a great buzz running through it.

On Saturday, I had an ok qualifying which meant I would start 9th on the grid for the all-important B/C race. I got a great start and settled into a steady rhythm, conscious that I needed a good result following my difficulties the last time out. I maintained the class lead, and was involved in a great 4 way battle ins...

Anti-clockwise at Mondello, was certainly a challenge and a half...not just a challenge learning the circuit but a challenging weekend overall!

Testing Friday morning was so weird going ‘the wrong way’, but in fairness it was like a brand new track and enjoyable to try get to grips with. So Friday really was all about getting to know the track, the best braking points

and the best spots to gain position. And most importantly what to try and avoid!!

On Saturday morning, Vee’s were first to compete on the anti-clockwise track in years...

We travelled to Mondello for Round 2 of the Finol Star of Tomorrow Championship and I was looking forward to hitting what is kind of my home track at this stage!

A great weekend racing (again), and why shouldn’t it have been anything other than great.  After a productive days testing, the honorable Sir Paul Heavey had my machine sweetly by the end of Friday and I was gunning for race day.

And what a day it turned out to be. The competition was fierce (which I am quickly realising the normal case to be in Formula Vee!) and racing was a...

Mark Reade returned to the series in which he made his single seater debut almost 10 years ago, when he joined the BOSS series for the Leinster Trophy event at Mondello Park last weekend. For the first time in the series history, BOSS would battle for the prestigious Leinster Trophy on Sunday. In addition, they would have a standard championship round on the Saturday, allowing Reade to bring himself up to speed in the Leastone 1000.

Despite his limited experience in the 1000, Mark fared well in Saturday’s qualifying, logging a lap good enough fo...

The Leastone team returned to Mondello Park last week when the Irish Formula Vee championship held a double header on the International circuit, marking the final visit to the Kildare circuit for 2016. Mark Reade made the transition from Formula Vee to the BOSS class for the weekend, which was to battle for the coveted Leinster Trophy on Sunday. Formula Vee regular Kevin Cahill was joined by teenager Jordan Daly, who was making his single seater debut following a number of years karting and a recent successful test.

Kevin had a solid qualifying,...

The Leastone team enjoyed a mixed weekend during the Formula Vee Festival weekend at Mondello Park last weekend. The weekend had a hectic timetable with 4 championship rounds on Saturday, followed up by 3 races on Sunday that made up the 2016 Formula Vee festival in aid of the LauraLynn Hospice.

Saturday

Both Mark Reade and Kevin Cahill had a solid qualifying for the championship rounds, lining up 2nd and 5th in class, despite tricky wet conditions. With a jam packed timetable, there was little time for adjustment and the opening laps saw typical...
