2022 is go!

2022 preparations got underway at a cold but sunny Mondello Park last weekend, with 2 of the teams Leastone 1000s shaking off the winter rust. Karl O’Brien and David Heavey were in the hot seats as they both prepare for the 2022 Monoposto championship. The two took advantage of the considerable amount of track time, with Karl bedding in some new components and Heavey focusing on getting himself up to speed.

Having had a disrupted programme in 2021 with ever changing Covid-19 restrictions, Karl is hoping to build on his great results from year one and mount an overall challenge for championship honours in his first full campaign. He will be joined by Heavey, who returns for his first full time season in over 10 years, and championship stalwart Morgan McCourt, who elected to miss the first test.

Preparations will continue at Kirkistown later this month, in advance of the opening round at Snetterton on April 23/24th, where the team will tackle a triple header across the 2 days. The balance of the 14 rounds will take place over 5 weekends, with all bar the season closer at Donington Park being double header events.
