Formula Vee - Kirkistown - September 26th

The Selco Leastone Racing Team brought its 2026 Formula Vee campaign to a close at Kirkistown on last weekend, with Harry Fagan returning to the venue where his season had begun six months earlier.

It has been quite a first year in cars for the inaugural Selco Scholarship winner. Coming into the season directly from karting, Harry had targeted top Rookie championship honours, but a difficult campaign, including the sizeable Mondello accident in April that sidelined him for subsequent rounds, made accumulating championship points particularly challenging.

Back at Kirkistown for the season finale, there was still plenty to play for, with Harry battling Sean McClements, Devin Ucar and Kevin Joyce among the Rookie contenders.

Qualifying highlighted just how competitive the Kirkistown field was and Harry put his Selco JH004 12th overall and 4th of the Rookies, in close proximity to Ucar and Joyce.

Race 1 – Championship Finale

Fagan made good progress from 12th early on and settled into a tightly packed midfield battle, which was a mix of rookies and more seasoned campaigners. As the race developed, the no. 95 was locked in the Rookie fight with Devin Ucar and Kevin Joyce immediately ahead.

The three Rookie contenders remained closely matched right to the flag. Ucar ultimately crossed the line ninth, Joyce tenth and Harry 11th, with just 0.117 seconds separating Joyce and Fagan after 10 laps.

The result unfortunately meant that Harry narrowly missed out on a top 3 in the championship and he secured 4th in the 2026 Rookie class.

That result perhaps doesn't tell the full story of Harry's year. Some mechanical issues, coupled with his major Mondello accident has hampered that challenge but considering those circumstances, getting back into the car and ultimately securing 4th in the Rookie standings represented a solid conclusion to his first year of single-seater racing.

Emerson Fittipaldi Cup

There was one final piece of business before the 2026 Kirkistown weekend was complete, with the traditional Emerson Fittipaldi Cup, a standalone non-championship Formula Vee race.

Starting 12th again, Harry initially lost ground before settling into the battle around the edge of the top 10. He found himself in similar company to that of the championship race, jumping to 11th around mid-distance and becoming involved in a close group battle that included Kevin Joyce, Fergal Begley and Jonny Hollywood.

At the flag Harry took 9th overall, following a race long battle with Begley and Joyce and once again he was 4th rookie home.

It was a solid way to sign off a challenging but hugely valuable rookie Formula Vee season, and after everything thrown at Harry during his first year in cars, the Kirkistown finale provided another indication of the progress made since his first laps in the JH004.

The team would like to extend their thanks to Selco Hygiene Supplies for their support of Harry and the inaugural Selco Scholarship throughout 2026, as well as everyone who has supported Harry during his first season in Formula Vee.
